A dictation keyboard and Mac app for people who think in two languages and shouldn't have to pick one before they open their mouth.
Most dictation makes you declare a language first, then punishes you for drifting. Ramble works out what you're speaking and keeps up when you switch mid-sentence — so a Chinese sentence with an English product name in it comes out as what you actually said, not as a phonetic guess.
Pauses are a terrible signal for sentence endings — people stop to think, get interrupted, lose their place. Ramble decides punctuation and capitalisation from the meaning of the whole passage instead, so thinking mid-sentence doesn't cost you a full stop, and a real ending gets one even when you rushed straight on.
When you get interrupted and restart a sentence, Ramble folds the false start into the finished version. What it will never do is reword you: the cleanup is only ever allowed to remove — repeats, hesitations, filler — never to substitute its own phrasing for yours. Your voice survives intact.
Ramble is a system keyboard, so it works in Messages, Mail, WeChat, your notes app, a text box in Safari — anywhere you can type. On the Mac it's a hotkey that drops text straight into whatever you're working in. Notes you keep in the app hold on to their original audio, so a transcript can be improved later.
Ramble sends audio to a transcription service you configure — in the beta, a machine you run yourself. Recognition and clean-up happen there. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no third-party trackers anywhere in the app.
Ramble's keyboard has to be added once by hand: open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and choose Ramble. Then tap and hold the globe key in any app to switch to it. If dictation doesn't start, return to the same screen, select Ramble and turn on Allow Full Access — the keyboard needs it to reach the transcription service.
Ramble sends your recording to a transcription service you configure yourself. Open Settings in the app, check the address, and make sure that machine is awake and reachable. Tap Test connection for a straight answer.
Add the word to 词典 Dictionary in the app. Ramble passes your dictionary to the recogniser, so it learns the spelling rather than guessing. It also watches the corrections you make and stops repeating a mistake once it has seen you fix it.
Yes. Ramble keeps the original audio. Open the note and choose 重新转写 Re-transcribe to run it through the current version of the pipeline. If you have already edited the text, your edits are kept and only the parts you never touched are replaced.
